Seaside Reef is what I called it all along. That includes the parking lot, the beach, and, of course, the wave breaking out on the reef on the south end of Cardiff State Beach in Encinitas/Solana Beach. [It’s unclear if Solana Beach is still part of the
City Of Encinitas. In 1980 we voted for the name as the city was newly formed and it seems the community of Solana Beach was among the ones listed as a part of the new municipality: Leucadia, Encinitas, Cardiff, and Solana. But they have their own city hall. So, who knows? More investigation is merited.]
When I was a high schooler and used to surf here all the time Seaside was a free parking lot. But now there’s a gate that closes at sunset controlled by a state park ranger, as well as a pay-by-smartphone sign.
I’m uploading this mainly to check out Sustack’s new post-to-YouTube feature. So, that’s why I’ll cut it short here. Besides my Windows 11 is telliig me it’s time to restart and update.
